Our banner has Sir edmund Hillary depicted as a Number eight because that is our class number. We have our hand prints all over Mount Everest. We also have a computer because we are a digital class and it is surrounded by all of our own personal interests.

Kai Pai on an excellent job you guys and well done to the rest of the class that helped put this all together. It looks absolutely great.

Marae Making

Today Our class had the challenge of making some a Wharenui for a marae.

The class was given 2 Newspapers, 3 sheets of A3 paper, a length of sellotape and a length of string. They were given the task of creating the Wharenui out of these materials.

As you can see everyone is working really hard on these at the moment.

Tomorrow they will finish this off and the winner will be decided. The wharenui that looks closest to the original design will be the WINNER!!!

Good luck everyone.

Thank you

Thank you to all the parents that we had attend our powhiri today. Unfortunately I didn't get any footage of it so can't share it with those of you who couldn't attend. The class stepped up to the occasion and performed admirably.

Science

SCIENCE

Over the past few weeks our class has been looking Acids and Bases in Science.
We have used things like red cabbage, litmus paper and universal indicator to help us identify whether different substances are acid or basic.
Here are some photos of the class at work.
Students added small drops of the substance to
different  paper indicators to determine whether
they were an acid or a base.

The students hard at work using red cabbage as an indicator.

The acids turned the red cabbage red and the bases turned it  green.

Students mixing red cabbage juice with baking soda to see the reaction.
